We began reading these short stories which included "Alone At Last", "My Antonia" and "Growing Up". One of the tasks for these stories, other than the guiding questions and such, was to annotate the passages. This wasn't a completely new thing for me but I had never heard of the term. It became a very helpful skill, however, because I understood the stories much better.
